  • Description

This is THE dominant planeswalker in White. Wether you are looking to win a long drawn out game or just bash your opponent in for flying damage, Elspeth is a great choice.

She was commonly used in an Exalted-based build to do quick damage and recover from a kind of board-whipe card (like Day of Judgment) with her token-generating ability. The fact that the first two abilities are + loyalty abilities are a testament to how great she was and is. I believe many have stated that her printing was a mistake. Now wether that is true or not, no one knows for sure but the level of awesome she provides is pretty insane.

Her ultimate ability will almost make your opponents scoop as it is simply mind-blowing! Indestructible everything? Sign me up. In legacy formats, it is not uncommon to have her come out and dominate the table when paired with a card like Humility. Their creatures will trade with yours and sometimes if you generate enough dudes, you can even go on offense with the +3/+3 and flying ability to win the game. Watch out though, the ability does targer, so you won’t be able to give it to something with shroud or protection from white. Most cards aside from Oblivion Ring and Karn Liberated will have a tough time dealing with her once she is in play. She is just that good. Even the fact that she was in a Duel deck has not caused her value to dwindle.

The FOIL version of the card is slightly easier to obtain than most FOIL planeswalkers. The Shards of Alara FOIL packs made sure of that. Despite this, the card is highly coveted by players spanning the whole spectrum of Magic: the Gathering play. They all have a special place in their hearts for this powerhouse.

Almost immediately she made most players forget the somewhat played Ajani Goldmane planeswalker and caused the masses to gravitate towards her. You can even make hippos fly with her +3/+3 ability which is quite humorous in the right casual setting. As soon as you drop this in play, you are declaring yourself to be everyone else’s prime enemy as they will not enjoy leaving you with an indestructible board. Even indestructible 1/1’s go a long way. “The meak will inherit the Earth!” or something like that. I am sure everyone else is looking forward to seeing what future Elspeth incarnations lie in the future of Magic: the Gathering.
